Tyrah Lives, we are a foundation that seeks to bring awareness to pregnancy and infant loss. This includes miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, ectopic pregnancy, termination for medical reasons, and the death of a newborn.
We support all and seek to develop a community as families learn to cope.
1 in 4 women will experience pregnancy or infant loss. Chances are, someone you know has faced this heartache, many in silence.
So many women are facing this alone because they feel ashamed. Ashamed that it’s their fault, ashamed that no one will care to listen. But we are not alone and we’ve just been silent, silent about the truth.
1 in 4 is way too common, which is why awareness is so important. Awareness should not intimidate or scare us from the reality that we may become that 1 in 4, but free us from the assumption that every pregnancy will be successful and the biased view that you’re alone when suffering from a loss.
Break the silence about pregnancy and infant loss while building a community of support.
To give people hope! As we speak about our loss and bring awareness, people will began to acknowledge the truth. The truth is that we will always carry our babies and as a result, people are given hope for the future!
Tyrah Lives is founded by Takeyah and Mark Powell, in honor of their daughter Tyrah who was born still at 34 weeks due to complications from Trisomy 18. After their loss, they realized how little others talked about pregnancy and infant loss and wanted to build something that focused on supporting those who’ve gone through this.
Through sharing our stories, participating in social events, and wearing merch to start the conversation about pregnancy and infant loss.
Through virtual and in person support groups along with resources. No one should have to carry this heartache alone, having your peers carry some of the weight your holding makes all the difference.
By fostering relationships that help build us up through intimate social settings and events. Together we are strong.
